English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
The graduate English for Academic Purposes courses offered by DKU’s Language and Culture Center aim to support our graduate students’ disciplinary specific academic and professional writing and oral communication skills. We offer two courses for students from the Electronic Computer Engineering, Environmental Policy, Global Health, and Medical Physics graduate programs:
- The academic writing course enhances learners’ academic writing abilities through a field-specific examination of the genres and literacy practices that are common in their disciplines.
- The academic oral communication skills course develops students’ competence and confidence in academic and professional oral communication through language, rhetoric, and regular performance of and reflection on academic oral presentations and discussions. At the end of the academic year, our graduate students showcase what they have learned by presenting their research orally to the entire DKU community at the annual DKU Graduate Student Colloquium.
